The Writing and Argumentation Center (CEA, after it’s Spanish Acronym) provides help and support to the entire university community with the processes of writing, oral presentations, the learning and science of languages through Spanish classes (in three levels) and tutoring sessions. The main purpose of the center is to raise awareness of the importance of creating strategies of self-study in the areas of writing and argumentation, in Spanish as well as in other languages.
Contribute to the high academic level of the UAM community in order to strengthen the development of learning strategies as to master the fields of writing and argumentation, in Spanish as well as other languages. This writing space also assumes as its mission the development, the use and diffusion of the sciences of language and those technologies that contribute to the personal, professional and academic development of the UAM community, as well as its influence zone.
The Writing and Argumentation Center (CEA) is, in 2024, a nationally and internationally recognized space from the quality of the level of its students in the fields of the language sciences, writing and argumentation. In addition it is a strategic place of help and collaboration for all the university’s community from the scope of the development of the alumni focused on the processes of writing.
The CEA offers various services for the university community. In the CEA both the student and faculty communities can have consultations for any challenges or questions about the writing process. These difficulties can include anything from basic questions about grammar or style to other, more complex details about the development of texts in academic or professional environments.
In addition, the services of the CEA extend to other areas of language sciences with the help of ICT. The CEA also offers tutoring sessions for the development of oral presentations and speech writing. Additionally, it has the ability to guide the correct use of digital media and audiovisuals for presentations or other communicational purposes.
It is important to highlight that the CEA is a space that promotes appropriate, efficient, and optimal writing techniques. In this center the student, through the guidance and supervision of professors as well as writing tutors, will develop a greater linguistic consciousness. In this sense, the CEA’s mission is to improve the writer and his or her techniques.
To qualify for a tutoring session, the student must request an appointment directly from the CEA during open hours (Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 4:00pm). The appointment has a maximum length of 30 minutes. Therefore, the student must arrive on time to the appointment and be respectful of the scheduled times so that other students can also take advantage of this service.
